Join us for an event focused on recent and ongoing litigation in the courts on climate change issues, led by the Emmett Environmental Law & Policy Clinic at Harvard University.
This is a big year for climate change lawsuits. In fact, the very first case the Supreme Court will hear this term is Suncor Energy v. County Commissioners of Boulder County. That case considers whether federal laws prevent states and municipalities from suing corporations for harms caused by climate change. Separately, a case challenging EPA’s rescission of the “Endangerment Finding”—the basis for a host of federal regulations limiting greenhouse gas emissions—is winding its way through the federal courts. In addition, learn about the Swiss Seniors who took a climate change case to the European Court of Human Rights. Harvard Law student volunteers working with the Clinic will present on these cases, discuss their potential ramifications, and preview related litigation.
All are welcome! Come mingle, have food and drink, and learn about climate change issues and the law!
Doors open at 7pm; presentation starts at 7:30pm
